Ирена Янкова

Born (1974) and raised in Gorna Oriahovitsa, Mrs. Yankova won her first major art competition at the age of ten. After studying art at the “Saints Cyril and Methodius” University with specialization in plastic arts and oil painting, she worked as art teacher at a Secondary school in Gorna Oriahovitsa. Irena transitioned from traditional fine arts to work in the field of illustration, becoming an award winning illustrator.

She has received a grant for the realization of a research project and a video, named “Metamorphosis of a color, matter, space and time”, the Illustrators of the future Grand Prize (2001, LA, California), award in The First Festival of the Vanguard Video Art’s Production “Artvision 2000” (Bulgaria), Zachary Jandov award for a short video named “A Track”, award for a short video named “Dog’s life”, Dinosaur illustration award, Lourinha. Portugal.

Over time, Mrs. Yankova returned to her life’s love of painting.

Irena’s artworks are included in Corporate and Private collections in Bulgaria, Norway, USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia and in many other countries all around the world.
